PROJECT OVERVIEW

The I-105 Express Lanes Project converts existing HOV lanes to express lanes along one of Los Angeles County's busiest freeway corridors. Delivered through the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC) method, the program requires construction to advance within an active freeway environment while maintaining close coordination among Metro, Caltrans, the contractor, and multiple project stakeholders.

A1MI manages the quality program across all three project segments, providing a consistent framework for field inspection, testing, nonconformance management, quality records, punchlist, and final acceptance. The program is supported by a project-wide deployment of A1 Connect, giving the team a structured, real-time system for managing quality information and improving visibility across agency and project interfaces.

SCOPE OF WORK

—Quality program management across all three project segments

—Field quality oversight and inspection coordination

—Testing and quality record management

—Nonconformance and corrective action tracking

—Punchlist and final walk management

—Document control and records management

—Quality reporting and management visibility

—Stakeholder collaboration platforms for Metro, Caltrans, and project partners

—Final acceptance and closeout support

A1 Connect on This Project
A1 Connect

A1 Connect serves as the digital backbone of the project's quality program – bringing inspection requests, test results, quality records, NCRs, punchlist items, final walks, and supporting documentation into one structured environment.

Collaboration platforms developed for Metro, Caltrans, and other project stakeholders provide shared visibility into quality status, outstanding issues, and required actions – creating a traceable record from initial inspection through resolution and final acceptance, while reducing reliance on disconnected spreadsheets, emails, and standalone tracking systems.

Program Highlight
Key Outcomes

One quality program across all three segments. A consistent quality-management framework across the full corridor – standardizing inspection, testing, documentation, issue resolution, and acceptance requirements across multiple construction fronts.

Earlier identification and resolution of quality issues. Integrating field inspection, testing, and nonconformance management helps identify issues while work is still accessible – reducing the risk of rework, schedule impacts, and unresolved acceptance items.

Shared visibility across Metro, Caltrans, and the project team. Collaboration platforms give key stakeholders structured access to quality records, inspections, test information, and open items – improving coordination and accountability across agency interfaces.

Structured path from construction to final acceptance. Punchlist and final walk activities run through a controlled, verifiable workflow – converting field observations into assigned, tracked, and documented closeout items through final resolution.
