Crenshaw/LAX Light Rail — K-Line
Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA)
PROJECT OVERVIEW
An 8.5-mile light rail line along Crenshaw Boulevard connecting the Metro Expo Line to the Metro Green Line — featuring 8 stations, 6 bridges, underground guideways, and a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) segment. One of the most complex urban rail construction programs in Los Angeles history, involving multiple jurisdictions including the City of Los Angeles and the City of Inglewood.
A1MI provided an integrated quality and project-information management approach — connecting field inspection, quality compliance, ADA verification, document control, and project reporting. This gave the project team greater visibility into construction quality, improved accountability and record traceability, and supported efficient resolution and closeout of quality-related issues.
SCOPE OF WORK
—Quality program development and management
—Managed 28+ inspectors and testing technicians
—Document control and configuration management
—Safety security certification support
—ADA compliance inspections
A1 Connect was deployed across the K-Line program – organizing quality records, inspections, drawings, and submittals in structured workflows, and giving project management live visibility into outstanding quality items in place of disconnected spreadsheets, emails, and paper records. The custom closeout platform coordinated the owner, design-builder, and 30+ subcontractors through final acceptance.
Developed the project Quality Program and the Project Closeout Plan – the frameworks that governed quality and closeout execution across the program.
Developed and implemented closeout procedures for the Project as well as the City of Los Angeles and City of Inglewood.
Completed all accessibility and ADA inspections for the entire alignment.
Demonstrated that a certified small and diverse business enterprise can successfully support a $2+ billion transit program – with both the technical personnel and the management systems the work demands.
